With years of construction and accumulation, JRC in Jilin University reaps its fruits in terms of research on teaching, scientific research, disciplinary construction, talent training, etc. The year 2002 witnessed the approval of the discipline of legal theory in Jilin University as national key discipline by the Ministry of Education. In the year 2007, this discipline passed the assessing of the Ministry of Education and was again approved as national key discipline. This discipline has as its main directions jurisprudence, western legal philosophy, legal sociology, legal culture studies, economic analysis of law, comparative law studies, and the globalization of law. Guided by Marxism, this discipline attaches due importance to its cooperation with branch laws and legal practice, to the mutual prosperity of teaching and research, and to the equal emphasis on independent research and academic exchange, thus providing JRC with reasonable echelons of teachers and researchers, free and active academic atmosphere and teaching and research conditions that are among the best in China. In recent years, teachers and researchers in this discipline have presided over many research programs of national, provincial and ministerial levels, bringing about many high-level research achievements as well as sound social benefits.
