1 Jurisprudence in Real Life
The forum of jurisprudence in real life is sponsored by JRC, Jilin University and it is open for all the undergraduates as well as the graduates in our university. The discussion topics are generally new and hotly discussed events, cases and problems of law home and abroad, such as the rights of transgender persons, the validity of dishes made of human milk, the legitimization of euthanasia, the right to marriage of AIDS patients, rights of college students, etc. The forum is usually presided over by one teacher, several graduates make keynote speeches and others participate in the free discussion. The tenet of this forum is “to disclose jurisprudence via life and to understand life via jurisprudence”. Since Dec. 2002, we have successfully sponsored nearly 100 forums of this kind and they are favorably received in and out of our university. This forum draws jurisprudence near to life and makes it vivid and lifelike, thus provoking learners’ enthusiasm. Part of the discussion results of this forum has been published.

2 Forum of Front Matters in Legal Theory for Doctor Candidates
The forum of front matter in legal theory for doctor candidates is an academic activity sponsored by JRC, Jilin University and organized yearly by Ph. D. candidates. It follows exactly the standards and procedures of international conferences. Every topic is presided by one scholar, either from JRC or invited from outside, one doctor candidate acts as the main speaker, still another acts as his/her commentator, and other participants ask questions or make free comments concerning the speeches of the previous two. The goal of this forum is to create a free, open, active and prudent academic environment, thus helping to train talents in legal theory accomplished in Marxist theory, sensitive to the ethos of our time, creative, fluent and eloquent both in writing and speaking. This forum follows the spirit of scientific study, academic democracy and endorses academic dialogue and exchange on a fair and well-found basis. Since the year 2000, this forum has been organized successfully for eight terms and 6 volumes of the discussion achievements have been published.

3 Xiaonanhu Reading Group
This reading group is an open organization with our Ph. D. candidates as its main body, and its aim is to perform intensive reading on books, to clarify problems, to promote academic learning, to exchange ideas and thoughts and to make progress together. The main activities of this reading group consist of intensive reading of classics and other important works and discussion on relevant topics. In every time of the reading activities, a host/hostess is assigned beforehand together with one speaker and two commentators. Every member of this reading group is supposed to read the assigned works carefully beforehand and write a book review as required. Since the year 2003, this reading group has been organized among Ph. D. candidates of grade one and they are required to read books under the guidance of their supervisors. Besides Ph.D. candidates majoring in legal theory, students from other majors in humanities and social sciences are also attracted by this event.
