JRC is nationally acknowledged as the center for the training of high-level talents in legal theories. In terms of the content of our teaching and training, attention has been directed to the attainment of humanities and social sciences, the jurisprudential way of thinking, the ability of academic innovation, and the establishment of academic morals and academic criteria; in terms of teaching methods, a multiplicity of methods are employed: life scene method, law clinic, lectures, seminars, network teaching, social survey, assigned reading, etc.; in terms of the allocation of the courses, a multiple system of courses is formed consisting of “Lectures of Well-known Scholars”, “Lectures of Overseas Scholars”, “Forum of Jurisprudence in Real Life”, “Front Forum for Ph. D. Candidates”, “Xiaonanhu Reading Group”, “Academic Roundtable of Law”, “Applied Jurisprudence”, “Intensive Reading of Classics” etc. together with other compulsory as well as selective courses; in terms of the construction of textbooks, efforts have been made to translate scientific results into quality textbooks, bringing about the coexistence of traditional and individualized textbooks, textbooks and reference books, textbooks for undergraduates and those for graduate students; in terms of the optimization of staff quality, different means have been employed, such as the exclusive recruit of teachers and researchers with Ph. D. degree, the introduction of talents, the invitation of well-known scholars and scholarly officials as guest professors, the sending of some staff members for overseas research and training, etc.; in terms of educational facilities, the library and the computer room of JRC were successively set up, the overseas law information website was opened and other top-ranking teaching conditions were created; in terms of teaching system, sound teaching and management rules and regulations for undergraduates as well as graduates were established and our teaching became more and more standardized and institutionalized.
    In the past 30 years, JRC has produced many jurisprudents who are steeped in their academic studies and are highly productive in their researches, among which the following are outstanding representatives: Prof. Zhang Wenxian, chief justice of Jilin Advanced People’s Court, Prof. Xu Xianming, president of China University of Political Science and Law, Prof. Zheng Chengliang, vice secretary of the Committee of the CPC of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and president of its Law School, Prof. Xin Chunying, vice director of the Legislative Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the National Peoples Congress of the PRC, researcher of the Institute of Legal Science, CASS, and Prof. Yao Jianzong, Standing vice director of JRC, Jilin University.
