1.Zhang Wenxian (1951-  ), Ph. D. of Philosophy, Professor of Law, Supervisor of Ph. D. Candidates
    Prof. Zhang is director of the Society of Jurisprudence Research, JRC (the National Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences by the Ministry of Education), leading scholar of the national teaching team of JRC, member of the Committee of Academic Degrees of the State Council, member of the Fifth Appraisal Group of Legal Science, vice president of Chinese Law Society (CLS), Standing vice president of the Society of Legal Education (a branch of the CLS), counselor of the Society of Jurisprudence Research, member of the Coordination Committee of China’s United National Judicial Examination, director of the Guidance Commission on Legal Education of Law Schools under the Ministry of Education, member of the Committee of Social Science (convenor of the Department of Legal Science) of the Ministry of Education, vice director of Committee of Experts on Disciplinary Development and Mounting of Majors of the Ministry of Education, convenor of the Group of Legal Science in the Sixth Expert Group of the National Post-Doctor Regulatory Commission, vice director of the Team of Examination and Comment on Legal Science of The National Philosophy and Social Sciences Fund, representative of the 17th National Congress of the CPC, representative of the 11th National People’s Congress, guest professor of Peking University, Renmin University of China, Nanjing University, Xiamen University, etc., and member of the Professor Committee of Guanghua Law School, Zhejiang University. He was the member of the executive council of the IVR and he is now the Chief Justice and President of Jilin Advanced People’s Court.
    The main research fields of Prof. Zhang consist of jurisprudence, contemporary western legal philosophy, legal sociology and law and politics, with as his main focus jurisprudence and contemporary western legal philosophy. Since the year 1986, he has presided over 5 key programs in the National Project of Philosophy and Social Sciences in 5 Five-year Plans, namely, “reform of China’s political system and the construction of law” (key program of the 7th Five-year Plan), “general review and criticism of contemporary western legal thoughts” (key program of the 8th Five-year Plan), “law and social development” (key program of the 9th Five-year Plan), “knowledge economy and the innovation of law” (key program in the 10th Five-year Plan), and “textbook of jurisprudence in the theoretical research and construction of Marxism” (key program in the 11th Five-year Plan). He presided over 1 program (“political procedural law”)supported by the Fund for Excellent Young University Teachers of the State Education Commission of China, and participated in 3 programs supported by China’s Social Science Fund and 1 program by Fund for Ph. D. Programs of the State Education Commission of China. He was in charge of the drafting of the plan for research in humanities and social sciences by the State Commission of Education of China (the Ministry of Education) for the 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th Five-year Plans, and he was responsible for the composition of the volume of law of the development report of philosophy and social sciences in colleges and universities in China. He participated in the presiding of 2 key programs of the Ministry of Education, namely “theory and practice of the socialist rule of law in China” and “strategic research on the reform and development of China’s legal science in the 21st century”, and he was also in charge of 2 important programs for the National Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences by the Ministry of Education. He is the author of more than 10 monographs and textbooks of national level and they mainly consist of On Basic Categories of Legal Science, Categorical Research on Legal Philosophy, Contemporary Western Legal Philosophy, Studies on the Trends of Thought of Western Legal Philosophy in the 20th Century, Jurisprudence: Marxist Theory, Methods and points of Law, and Jurisprudence, (national key textbook of the 9th, 10th and 11th Five-year Plans, “quality course book for colleges and universities by the Ministry of Education”) and he has published 191 pieces of academic papers on Social Sciences in China, Chinese Legal Science, CASS Journal of Law, etc. and his representative papers include “China’s Only Way to the Rule of Law”, “Market Economy and the Spirit of Modern Law”, “Market Economy and the Reform and Renovation of Jurisprudence”, “On Transformation of the Paradigms of China’s Legal Philosophy”, “Constructing the Legal Mechanism of Socialist Harmonious Society”, etc.
    Owing to his great achievements in teaching as well as in scientific researches, Prof. Zhang was awarded more than 30 prizes of national, provincial and ministerial levels, among which are 5 National Awards for Teaching Achievements (2 first prizes and 3 second prizes), 1 National Award for Excellent Textbooks for Colleges and Universities (first prize), and 3 Awards for Textbook and Excellent Research Achievements of Law by the Ministry of Justice (all of them are first prizes). The year 1987 witnessed the granting of Prof. Zhang Excellent Teacher of Jilin Province, he was ratified as National Young Scholar with Outstanding Contributions by the Ministry of Personnel in the year 1994, in 1997 he was enrolled in the Trans-Century Training Program Foundation for the Talents of Humanities and Social Science by the State Education Commission, in 1998 he was further selected as the first series of Excellent Experts of Jilin Province and in 2004 he was ratified as the Chief Expert (convenor) of the “Program Team of Textbooks for Jurisprudence in the Research and Construction of Marxist Theory”.
2.Ma Xinfu (1943-  ), Professor of Law, Supervisor of Ph. D. Candidates
    Prof. Ma is member of the Legislative Consultation Committee of Jilin Provincial Government, member of the Legislative Consultation Committee of the Municipal People’s Congress of Changchun City, member of the Committee of Consultation on Legal Affairs of Changchun Municipal People’s Government, member of the Arbitration Committee of Changchun City, member of the second series of Excellent Experts of Jilin Province. His major research fields include jurisprudence, legal sociology and constitutional science. He is the author of more than 20 academic monographs and textbooks, and his representative works are Introduction to Legal Sociology (monograph), Principles of Legal Sociology (monograph), Legislative Science: From the Perspective of Legal Sociology, Jurisprudence (editor in chief). He has published more than 40 pieces of academic papers on Social Sciences in China, Chinese Legal Science, Jilin University Journal Social Science Edition among which the most representative are “The Spirit of Contract Is A Must for Socialist Rule of Law”, “On the Legal Mechanism for Social Stability and Social Development”, “Development and Reflection of China’s Jurisprudence in A New Era” and “Several Issues on the Basic Law of HKSAR”. The programs and projects Prof. Ma has assumed include “Modern Rule of Law and Modern Parties” (ministerial key program for the construction of the rule of law and legal theory research), “jurisprudential studies on modern enterprise system” (key program of the National Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences by the Ministry of Education) and “sociological studies on legislative mechanism” (program in the plan of research in humanities and social sciences by the Ministry of Education).

3.Yao Jianzong (1966-  ), Ph. D of Law, Professor of Law, Supervisor of Ph. D. Candidates
   Prof. Yao is standing vice director of JRC (the National Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences by the Ministry of Education), director of the Base of Innovation in Law and Economic Globalization in Jilin University (985 National Platform of Innovation in Philosophical and Social Sciences), standing vice editor in chief of Law and Social Development, vice president of the Society of Jurisprudence Research in CLS, vice president of the Union of Societies of Social Sciences of Jilin Province, director of the Society of Trail Theory in CLS, member of the Committee of Consultation on Legal Affairs of Changchun Municipal People’s Government, representative of the 13th People’s Congress of Changchun City and member of the Committee of Law of the 13th People’s Congress of Changchun City. His major research directions comprise jurisprudence, legal philosophy and legal sociology.
   Prof. Yao has published 3 academic monographs, 2 translations and 1 textbook and has also participated in the compilation and writing of many other textbooks. Since the year 1991, he has published more than 70 pieces of academic papers. His representative works include Introductory Study on Law and Development (monograph), Biological Environment of the Rule of Law (monograph), and Narration and Comment on the Movement of Law and Development in America (monograph), Jurisprudence: A General Science of Law (textbook), and such academic papers as “Faith: The Mental Meaning of Rule by Law”, “Philosophy of Law Criticizing and Critical Philosophy of Law”, “Living Circumstances and the Orientation of Rule of Law”, “The Rational Choice Required by Times: Equal Protection of the Rights of Property by Law”, “The Aesthetic Purport and Taste of the Rule of Law”, etc. Many of his papers have been excerpted by authoritative publications like Xinhua Digest, Digest of Social Sciences in China, China University Periodicals Abstract (CUPA), etc. and enjoy wide academic influence. Since the year 1994, Prof. Yao has presided over 8 academic programs of different levels including the program of the National Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences by the Ministry of Education.
Because of his excellent performance and achievements in teaching as well as in scientific researches, Prof. Yao was awarded more than 20 prizes of different levels. The year 2003 witnessed the honor of “National Excellent Teacher” in colleges and universities (he is among the first to receive this honor); in the year 2004, Prof. Yao was Supported by Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University; in 2006 he received the honor of one of the ten “Excellent Young Jurists in China” (the 5th term) and in the same year he was ratifies as the National Talent in the “One Hundred, One Thousand and Ten Thousand Talents Project” by the Ministry of Personnel and other six Ministries and Commissions.
4.Huang Wenyi (1971-  ), Ph. D. of Law, Professor of Law, Supervisor of Ph. D. Candidates
    Prof. Huang is vice president of Law School of Jilin University, vice editor in chief of Law and Social Development, vice chairman of the Society of Research on Journal of CLS, director of the Society of Jurisprudence Research in CLS, director of the Society of Legal Education of CLS, legislative consultant of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Changchun City, and member of the Committee of Decision-making and Consultation of the People’s Government of Changchun City. His major research fields consist of jurisprudence, comparative law and legislative science. Prof. Huang has published more than 10 academic monographs and textbooks, and his representative works include Studies on the Development of Law in Contemporary China (monograph), Global Structure and the Development of Law (monograph), Legislative Science (editor in chief), and Principles of Law (translation). He is the author of more than 70 pieces of academic papers published on CASS Journal of Law, Chinese Legal Science, Law Science, etc, and his representative papers include “On the Properties of the Philosophy of Law”, “On the Two Paradigms of China’s Research on the Development of Law”, “Defense for the Formal Rule of Law”, etc. He was awarded the Prize of Excellent Teacher by Baosteel Education Fund and is now presiding over “neo-liberal legal philosophy” (key grand program of the National Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences by the Ministry of Education) and the program “American legal education in the era of globalization” (Supported by Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University).
5.Huo Cunfu (1958-  ), Ph. D. of Law, Professor of Law, Supervisor of Ph. D. Candidates
    Prof. Huo is president of the Academic Sub-Committee of Law School of Jilin University, director of the CLS, and standing director of Chinese Law History Society. In the year 2000 he began to be supported by the Trans-Century Training Program Foundation for the Talents by the State Education Commission (for humanities and social sciences). His major research directions comprise legal history, legal culture studies, etc. He has presided over 7 programs including program supported by National Social Science Foundation of China and programs supported by the Ministry of Education and has published more than 10 academic monographs and textbooks, including The Field of Power (monograph), Revenge, Retaliating Penalty and the Doctrine of Retribution: Cultural Interpretation of Chinese Conception of Law (monograph), Gleaning on “Ling” in Tang Dynasty (co-translator), and History of China’s Legal System (vice editor in chief). He has also participated in two key research programs of the 7th and 8th Five-year Plans, namely The General History of Chinese Legal System: Yuan Dynasty (deputy editor) and The General History of Chinese Legal Ideology: Qing Dynasty (deputy editor). He is the author of more than 60 pieces of academic papers, including “On the Legal Functions of ‘the Detailed Connotation’ of the Laws of Tang Dynasty”, “On the Patterns of the Emperor’s Exercise of Power and the Power of the Emperor and the Prime Minister”, “The Investigation on ‘Shi’ (the Administrative Law) in Tang Dynasty”, “An Interpretation of the Court Verdict in Dragon’s Muscles and Phoenix’s Marrow Verdict (the Judgments of Cases in Tang Dynasty)”, “The Cultural Characteristics and Pursuits of Traditional Chinese Legal Culture: the Occurrence, Development and Destiny of Qingli Law (Law of Reason and Sense)” etc. His monograph The Field of Power won the First Prize for Excellent Research Results in Humanities and Social Sciences Studies of Jilin Province (the 3rd term) in Dec. 1995 and was further awarded the Third Prize for “Excellent Research Achievements in Humanities and Social Sciences in Colleges and Universities by the Ministry of Education” (the 4th term) on 19th Oct. 2006. His Revenge, Retaliating Penalty and the Doctrine of Retribution: Cultural Interpretation of Chinese Conception of Law was awarded Prize for Quality Achievements in Philosophical and Social Sciences Researches of Jilin University in the year 2006
6.Cui Zhuolan (1953-  ), JM, Professor of Law, Supervisor of Ph. D. Candidates
    Prof. Cui studied and did her research in American University (1987-1988) and Lewis Clark State College (1992-1993). She is currently vice secretary-general of Administrative Law Branch of CLS, member of the Committee of law in China Pacific Society, secretary-general of the Society of Constitutional Law and Administrative Law of Jilin Province, director of the Society of Administrative Management of Jilin Province, legislative consultant of the People’s Government of Jilin Province, the People’s Congress of Changchun City as well as the People’s Government of Changchun City, consultant of the Association of Women Persecutors of Jilin Province, etc. Her major research directions consist of law and politics and administrative law and she is the author of more than 20 academic monographs, translations and textbooks. Her representative works include An Outline of Administrative Procedural Law, Law of Administrative Review, Law of Administrative Penalty, and On Administrative Rules and Regulations. She has published more than 100 pieces of academic papers on Chinese Legal Science, CASS Journal of Law and other academic journals, among which the following stand out: “On Administrative Guidance and Its Legalization”, “On the Establishment of Equality Between Citizens and the Government in Administrative Law” and “On Administrative Power, Rights of the Relatives and Their Relationship”. She is now presiding over “institutional guarantee for the construction of harmonious society” (key program supported by China’s Social Science Fund) and “comparative studies on legal mechanisms of public security in colleges and universities” (program supported by the Ministry of Justice).
7.Zheng Chengliang (1955-  ), Ph. D of Law, Professor of Law, Supervisor of Ph. D. Candidates, Guest Researcher of JRC
    Prof. Zheng was vice president and Chief Justice of Jilin Advanced People’s Court, president of National Judges College, and he is currently vice secretary of the CPC Committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and president of the Law School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His academic posts include commissioner of the Committee of Social Science of the Ministry of Education, commissioner of the Guidance Commission on Legal Education of Law Schools under the Ministry of Education, vice president of the Society of Jurisprudence Research of CLS, vice president of the Society of Legal Education of CLS, standing director of the Society of the Study of Trial Theories of CLS, and commissioner of the Committee of Sino-American Exchange of Legal Science. His major research directions include jurisprudence, and judicial theories and systems. He is the author of more than 70 books and academic papers and was awarded the National Second Prize for Teaching Achievements (2 times) and Prizes for Excellent Achievements of provincial and ministerial levels (5 times). His representative works include: Justice Within Law, “Right-based Theory”, “Law, Contract and Market”, “On the Notion of Rule of Law and the Legal Thinking”, “On Presumption of Innocence”, “The Hierarchy of Law: the Construction of Theory and the Tyranny of Words- the Linguistic Therapy towards Legal Thinking”, etc.
8.Deng Zhenglai (1956-  ), Professor of Law, Supervisor of Ph. D. Candidates, Guest Researcher of JRC
    Prof. Deng dwells mainly on western legal philosophy. He has long been focusing his attention on the translation of and research on western classics and has organized, planned and translated huge number of well-known academic works on humanities and social sciences. He is author of more than 30 academic monographs and translations and his works on this respect consist of State and Society: On China’s Civil Society, Freedom and Order: On Hayekian Social Theory, On Hayekian Legal Philosophy, Rule, Order and Ignorance: On Hayekian Liberalism, China’s Legal Science: Where to GO, etc and his translations mainly include Jurisprudence: The Philosophy and Method of the Law, Interpretations of Legal History, The Blackwell Encyclopedia of political Science, The Constitution of Liberty, Law, Legislation and Liberty, etc. He has published more than 200 pieces of academic papers on China’s Social Science Quarterly, Chinese Legal Science, CASS Journal of Law, The Political Science and Law Tribure, etc. His representative papers comprise “To Construct China’s Civil Society”, “Binary Conception of Law and Legislation: on Hayekian Legal Theory”, “Precondition Analysis of the Fundamental Task of Contemporary China’s Legal Philosophy”, etc. He has also initiated many widely influential academic journals such as China’s Social Science Quarterly, China Social Sciences Review, China Book Review, etc.

 10.Xu Xianming (1957-  ), Ph. D. of Law, Professor of Law, Supervisor of Ph. D. Candidates, Guest Researcher of JRC
    Prof. Xu is now president of China University of Political Science and Law, vice president of the CLS, president of the Society of Jurisprudence Research of the CLS, vice president of the Society of Legal Education of CLS, vice director of the Guidance Commission on Legal Education of Law Schools under the Ministry of Education, representative of the 10th National People’s Congress, and representative and standing commissioner of the 11th National People’s Congress. His major research directions consist of modern and contemporary Chinese legal thoughts, theories of the rule of law, front matters of legal philosophy, human rights theories, theory of constitutionalism, legal sociology, etc. He has published 8 academic monographs, including Exploration of the Establishment of the Constitution by People, General Introduction to People’s Rights and Duties, Human Rights Studies, etc. and has edited and compiled over 30 series and textbooks such as Jurisprudence Series, Jurisprudence Tutorial, Jurisprudence, etc. He has presided over more than 20 programs of national and international levels and has published over 100 pieces of academic papers on Social Sciences in China, Chinese Legal Science, CASS Journal of Law, etc., among which “On the Right of Existence”, “Theory of the Right of Existence”, “On the System and Classification of Human Rights”, “Ethic and Supervision of Judicature”, etc. have been translated into many languages. He was awarded more than 20 prizes of national, provincial and ministerial levels, including the National Youth Social Science Award (first prize), Award for Excellent Achievements in Social Sciences by the Ministry of Education (first prize), etc
  11.Wang Jian (1965-  ), Ph. D. of Law, Professor of Law, Supervisor of Ph. D. Candidates
    Prof. Wang is currently professor of Northwest University of Politics and Law, dean of Graduate Education, standing director of the Society of China’s Legal History, director of the Society of Jurisprudence Research of the CLS, and director and vice secretary-general of the Society of Legal Education of CLS. His major research directions consist of legal history of modern China, legal education and comparative law, and his masterpieces include Legal Meaning that Connects Two Worlds (2001, third prize of the Ministry of Justice), and Legal Education in Modern China (2001, first prize for National Excellent Achievement in Legal Education). He has also compiled the Introduction of Western Law into China and many other books. His representative pieces of papers include “New Coinage of Legal Vocabulary in Late Qing Dynasty and Impact on Relation with Japan” (2005), “An Anecdote in the Introduction of German Law into China” (2002), “On Legal Journals of Modern China” (2003), “Beyond the West and the East: Wu Jingxiong, the Jurist” (1998), “Qu Tongzu and His Studies on History of Legal Sociology” (1998), “On China’s Legal Education” (1994), “China’s J.D. ?!” (1996), “Nature of the Education of JM” (2005), “Survey of China’s Contemporary Education of Legal Graduates” (2006), “Legal Education in the West Region of China: State of Affairs and Problems” (2006), etc. He has finished 5 programs of provincial and ministerial levels concerning legal education and his recent major research direction is comparative study on the evolution of the system of legal science and the training mode of legal talents in modern China and the history of China’s legal education.
